The Pre-k Program
The Early Achiever’s Program
The Program reinforces concepts and prepares your child for academic success. The program creates a unique experience for your child by:
- Offering one-on-one instruction
- Focusing on mastery learning and personalized curriculum
- Creating lesson plans around your child’s learning modalities and natural curiosity
- Emphasizing individual attention
- Maintaining low teacher-student ratios
The Session Structure
- Three hour or two hour sessions with 20 minute segments in each segment
- 30 minutes one-on-one instruction alternated with 20 minutes supervised time-on-task
- Up to two or three times a week
- One from a staple of twenty to thirty learning activites of 20 minutes presented in each segment
- As an early learning program at a community / recreation center:
- 9:00 AM to noon
Our Curriculum
Science
Between the Ages of 4 and 5 years
- Understand and appreciate the concept of day and night (Earth rotating)
- Identify living beings and non-living things
- Identify the relationship between the Sun, the moon, and the stars
- Identify the differences between insects, reptiles, birds, and amphibians
- Articulate parts of a plant
- Describe Earth and understand the significance of water bodies
- Articulate the four seasons
- Understand North, South, East, and West on a map
- Able to call out some of the states and their capitols
- Articulate transformation and phases of matter – gas, liquid, and solid
Get In Touch
Between the ages of 5 and 6 years
- Perform all of learning points for 4 and 5 year olds
- Apply the concept of gravity
- Identify and call out sources of energy
- Understand density
- Articulate causes of seasonal changes
- Appreciate the notion of a mixture
Math
Between the Ages of 4 an 5 years
- Curriculum activity list
- Pre and post assessment tools
- Access to a web-based learner management program
- Best practices with the program implementation
- Marketing support
- Training for program delivery
Between the Ages of 5 and 6 years
- Perform all of learning points for 4 and 5 year olds
- Identify numbers more than, less than, and equal to other numbers
- Perform additions with carry over
- Perform simple multiplication (early concept of groups)
- Multiply by looking up tables (review not rote)
- Understand simple fractions
Boardgames
A Sampling (may be played electronically or physically on boards)
- Chess (spatial skills)
- Lego (kinesthetic skills)
- Monopoly (logical or mathematical skills)
- Cash register (kinesthetic and mathematical skills)
- Scrabble (language skills)
- Mater Mind (logical and spatial skills)
- Crosswords (language skills)
- Find the six differences (spatial skills)
- Make up stories (language skills)
- Tic Tac Toe (logical skills)
READING AND WRITING
Between the ages of 4 and 5 years
- Familiar with the phonics around each letter
- Read and follow small words (three letters – spelling)
- Identify small words out of context
- Able to identify vowels
- Able to read simple “Bob” books
Between the ages of 4 and 5 years
- Perform all of the above
- Read early books (including words with four letters)
- Identify rhyming and similar sounding words
- Able to spell longer words phonetically
- Able to write words
- Form simple sentences
- Able to listen and comprehend short stories
RARE Learning is a hi-touch learning program that is delivered as an Early Learners’ Day Out Pre-K program and a summer academic enrichment program.
